When World of Warcraft Classic went live in August 2019, we pondered the question of its long-term viability. Some of us believed that it would have legs, at least as long as Blizzard continued to provide updates, while others expected it to be a flash in the nostalgia pan.
It’s still early, but at this point it looks like those who bet on its durability are going to come out on top. Activision said during today’s Q4 financial presentation that World of Warcraft’s “active player community” at the end of 2019, defined as players with monthly or longer subscriptions, was more than double what it was at the end of the second quarter, less than two months prior to the launch of Classic.
PC Gamer reports that subscriber numbers have more than doubled since the launch of WoW Classic. Blizzard president J. Allen Brack made this announcement during a Q4 financial Q&A call. He says that the company is “committed” to continuing support of both retail and classic versions of the game “over the long term.” Brack says that engagement numbers for WoW Classic has been especially “strong in the East” where it enjoys particularly high levels of player retention. Blizzard hasn’t released subscriber figures publicly since 2015, but the 2014 milestone represents a 10 million subscriber peak alongside the release of Warcraft’s fifth expansion, Warlords of Draenor, that year. The all-time record of 12 million subscribers, hit in 2010 with the release of Cataclysm, still stands.
Battle for Azeroth didn’t waste any time in smashing other records for Blizzard, though. Last month’s release quickly became the fastest-selling World of Warcraft expansion to date, with 3.4 million copies sold within 24 hours.
But elsewhere in the MMORPG space, the situation is less favourable. Wildstar developer Carbine Studios, which modelled much of its game after early versions of Warcraft, was shut down by publisher NCSoft earlier this month.
World of Warcraft Classic’s third phase and halfway point is a major turning point for the game. The next update to hit Classic, scheduled to release on Feb. 12 at 5pm CT, brings a host of changes, including a new raid, reputation rewards, class quests, Eternal Quintessence, and the Darkmoon Faire.
The game has recently entered Phase 3 of that plan, with the first Battlegrounds – Warsong Gulch and Alterac Valley – having been released in December. On the PvE side of things, Phase 3 also promised the release of the Blackwing Lair raid, as well as the arrival of the Darkmoon Faire, and Blizzard have now announced when these can be expected.
This faster launch sets a precedent for how soon Blizzard is willing to release content. The last phase content was released on November 12, and the one before that was on October 15. That gives us roughly monthly updates, so we can probably expect the complete Phase 3 content to be out in early January. It’s unclear why this is the chosen time frame. It could be anything from Blizzard monitoring how fast people are engaging with the new stuff, or out of a fear that the game will lose relevance too fast. It does make you wonder what will happen once they’ve reached the final phase. In addition, if you are in need of Cheap WOW Classic Gold, you can visit our website 5mmo.com.
Putting aside the unknowns for now though, it’s a good sign that Blizzard is willing to move around the content to keep players engaged. This isn’t something you see in the live game; probably because the schedules are carefully planned as the content itself is created. With the old game, everything is relatively finished. Blizzard has a good idea of how players will react because we’ve done this all before.
With Phase 3’s content finally being delivered, World of Warcraft Classic players can start to look to Phase 4. Phase 4 will include the Arathi Basin PvP Battleground, as well as the 20-man raid Zul’Gurub. Finally, Phase 4 will add the four Green Dragon world bosses for players to hunt. There’s no currently planned timeline for the release of Phase 4 in World of Warcraft Classic.

Vanilla WOW Gold World of Warcraft has brought together many people over the last 15 years or so and formed the basis for friendships and even partnerships. With such a long life of a game it’s not enough that players have lost one or the other important companion over the years. Some of these players honor the deceased with very special Classic characters.
Anyone who has already heard our current buffed-cast knows that colleague Wolfgang met his wife in World of Warcraft (now for € 12.99). What sounds like a cliché has been quite common in the last 15 years or so. WoW just brought people together. Be it by chance encounters from which then friendships and partnerships emerged. Be it because it gave them the opportunity to do something together with distant (or of course close) friends and relatives on a regular basis.
But a lot can happen in 15 years. With such a long life of a game it is not enough that many an Azeroth veteran lost an important companion from back then. One of these players uses the reddit name TheMrMunch and has missed the following caption for a picture published a few hours ago:
“About 7.5 years ago a good friend of mine who took me to WoW died and in Classic I’ve rebuilt his character with the same name look and skill.” Today Scribbler has his mount to get :)”
A super nice gesture cheap Vanilla WOW Gold right? And TheMrMunch is not the only player who honors old companions in this way. In the comment section for example QuesoHusker has also reported that his brother in 2005 could inspire WoW. He died on July 14 2007. Today QuesoHusker plays a dwarf hunter called Kalajeera as did his brother back then.
You will find such small stories again and again in the more than 250 comments. And all of these prove that WoW has been more than just a game to many people over the years. Nice that Classic just reminds us of that.

Vanilla WOW Gold WoW Classic boosts the Warcraft franchise. Especially the Chinese got a lot of realms.
World of Warcraft is currently blindingly. For this you do not just have to look at the many headlines around queues in WoW Classic it’s usually just a look at the friends list of Battle.net. Many players who have not been online for years are now sinking into Azeroth for the second time and are experiencing their “vanilla” world again just like they did 15 years ago. Especially the Chinese seem to be crazy about WoW because they have extremely many realms.
This also gives Blizzard decent revenue through additional subscription revenue. At least that’s what Superdata Research says. Because WoW has risen from seventh place to third place.
What is being said? SuperData Research publishes analysis of the gaming market every few months. The analysts estimate here based on different factors how much the various games take. For example it is estimated that WoW subscriptions revenue increased by a whopping 223% in August in direct comparison with July.
However this does not mean that the number of players has increased by this value. If a player completes a subscription over 3 or even 6 months then he has a proportionally greater weight in this calculation.
Data should be treated with caution: However you should always take the information from SuperData with skepticism. After all cheap World of Warcraft Classic Gold the data are not officially from Blizzard Activision which tends to keep covered in such statements tend to be. For years no official subscription numbers are published anymore.
In addition WoW earned for a long time not only by subscriptions his money but also by additional services in the shop such as buyable mounts pets or character services.
In China the hype is even greater: something from the European and American field of view is advised how successful World of Warcraft Classic is in China. While Europe and America together come to just over 80 realms there are a whopping 65 realms in China alone all of which have at least a moderate workload.
Also exciting: Only 5 of the realms are PvE realms (one of them RP) all others are PvP realms (one of them RP-PvP). Apparently you love PvP in China and love to compete with other players in battles.

Blizzard Entertainment will soon release World of Warcraft Classic, a reimagining of the vanilla World of Warcraft which attracted millions of players worldwide. With enhanced graphics and all of the best features of the original game, there’s no telling how popular this remake might be. World of Warcraft Classic is going to be one of the biggest nostalgia trips in the history of gaming.
This will all come as welcome news to those who spent years begging, writing petitions, and even creating their own versions of vanilla World of Warcraft servers. For those wondering, vanilla World of Warcraft refers to World of Warcraft as it was – or roughly as it was – when the game shipped in 2004. Blizzard has made quite a few sweeping changes to the game since it launched – both in-world and in relation to certain features – which have made WoW’s millions of players quite nostalgic for a simpler time when the MMO first launched. If you are in need of Cheap WOW Classic Quests Power Leveling, come to 5mmo.com, where you can enjoy the cheapest price online and 3% off with a coupon code “5MMO”.
WoW: Classic is scheduled for August 27 (technically August 26 if you’re in the Americas). The soonest that you can play it is starting in May, during Blizzard’s scheduled stress tests. To opt-in you must have an active subscription on your Battle.net account. If you do, go to Account Management and select the Wow Classic beta. Keep in mind, there will be level caps during the test. The schedule is as follows:
Stress Test 1: Wednesday May 22 – Thursday May 23
Stress Test 2: Wednesday June 19 – Thursday June 20
Stress Test 3: Thursday August 8 – Friday August 9
The last stress test was previously slated for Wednesday July 18 to Thursday July 19, but was recently labeled as “TBD” after Taepsilum revealed that the team wasn’t quite ready for the global stress test. However, we just got the final dates: Thursday, August 8 at 11:00 a.m. PDT to Friday, August 9. The minimum requirements were revealed as well.
Blizzard is constantly revealing new information. More recently, it revealed how itemization would work in WoW Classic. Without going into too much detail, all abilities and equipment will function as they did in patch 1.12. While dungeons, raids, and PvP features will gradually roll out like they did during WoW’s initial release, equipment and abilities won’t constantly change to reflect the minor adjustments that Blizzard made with each patch.
Last month, Blizzard launched its beta for World of Warcraft Classic, a legacy server which authentically replicates version 1.12 of the game from 2004. Its release follows years of fan demand for a vanilla emulation of the forever popular MMO, which has changed significantly over its 15 year lifespan, suggesting a genuine hunger for the purer, simpler WoW of old, but Blizzard’s beta has already run into a curious problem.
Those with access to World of Warcraft Classic began to report a number of bugs and issues they encountered during their playtime. As it happens, these bugs aren’t bugs at all, but original features that were part and parcel of the 1.12 experience, even if – to modern eyes – they feel antiquated enough to appear outright broken. Blizzard has even had to release a full, ever growing list of “Not a Bug” features which numerous players are complaining about, as a way to further clarify the confusion. As a case study for the pervasive power of rose tinted glasses, this analogy speaks for itself. If you want to BuyWorld of Warcraft Classic Gold, I think rvgm.com is your best choice, after all, the site has been officially certified,so it’s very safe.
The “not a bug” list contains 13 items, including the larger hitboxes and melee reach of Taurens compared to other races, the health regeneration of Warriors, quest objectives not being tracked on the map or minimap, and the faster running speed of feared players and NPCs.The “Your skill in Protection increased to 15” message that appears upon leveling up is also included. The message was added to World of Warcraft with patch 1.12.1, and Blizzard said that it plans to keep it.
The Blizzard post is getting a ton of attention in the WoW community and reactions vary from excitement to “told you so.” Once WoW Classic actually releases, it will be very interesting to see what kind of playerbase the Classic servers pull in after the initial hype dies down. It seems likely that this type of experience is going to appeal to a niche audience, but certainly won’t be for everyone.
